The device works with your existing doorbell. It uses the low voltage transformer as it's AC power source. Which means this Arlo device never needs batteries!

The Arlo Video Doorbell will work with most existing chime units that are already wired and work off of a transformer. No worries - virtually all modern day wired chimes have a transformer. Go to the Arlo site and there is more detailed info for install and connecting to existing chimes. Hope this helps.
