I have all mine outside installed under the overhang of the roof and they work wireless to the station in the basement just fine. Don't know any ratings. The batter port is the only thing that looks like could get water in it but it comes with a rubber plug - so as long as that's inserted well should be water proof. I've had mine running for a year with no issues in weather hanging under an overhang.
