I used a very thin screwdriver on the long edge (space bar edge) to begin popping the cover off. It's the most flexible side which will help prevent accidentally gouging the lid. Also, do yourself a favor, don't put a SATA SSD in the machine but rather take advantage of the M.2 socket and install a Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) . It's 100 times faster than SATA and cheap ($116 on Amazon). That is a wicked fast drive. Reinstall windows (or your fav OS) on it and use it as your primary drive. It will blow you away at how fast it boots.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After all the screws are removed it is a snap fit. Use your fingernails to pop a corner off and then gently pull the cover off. Make sure all screws are off or you will damage the cover.
