Have you downloaded the latest firmware? When I got my router home and hooked it to my Optimum cable modem, I got a red light and so I called ASUS support. They helped me download the latest firmware update which cleared up the red light issue. I was very upset at first, thought I had a bad router until ASUS support helped with downloading the latest update.
