Absolutely. There are multiple ways to connect a second Asus router and the way I have mine setup is through Ai mesh.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - You can build a mesh network connecting multiple of these routers together. https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/GT-AX11000/E15154_GT-AX11000_UM_WEB.pdf?_ga=2.193189423.389532754.1584819487-61994116.1581729586 Page 55.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Certainly. You'll have several choices on how to configure the Routers which determines your overall performance. Separating the Ring from the gaming is the correct way to think about this. We call it routing and aggregation by affinity. clearly Ring clients will NEVER TALK with the gaming clients so separation is the ideal solution. The real aspect to think about are for the 'other' devices in the house. For example TV streaming devices, smart phones/tablets/Computers/servers, etc. these will need to be place over these 2 other use cases. Generally I hardwired all the stationary devices and only go wireless for those things we haven't any choice but to do so. I use separate wireless bands for the different use cases and use Lan segregation (wired, not VLAN) to direct and isolate/insulate each dissimilar traffic flow from each other. For example: web based cameras don't talk to any in you home for the most part - all that traffic is to a server outside your home. A security NVR solution on the other hand is the opposite - most all the traffic stays in your home between each camera and the NVR server. Gamers go both ways, if all the players are having a party in your home, the traffic stays inside; if it's a we based game, again all of that traffic goes outside the home and doesn't talk to anything else in the home. So you may find that your real bottleneck will be the capacity of you internet service if the majority of your traffic is to a server outside your home, it would be read on able to investigate your options and costs there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I agree with both the statements above but for general customer knowledge, I owned the AC-1900 and in video it shows the whole home Ai Mesh connection with what appears to be an AC-1900. CAUTION: After 2 weeks on the phone with ASUS tech support, they finally enlightened me as to this new technology. AX products must work with other AX products to enable the Ai Mesh, which is the actual goal of purchase. I returned the AC-1900 and purchased 2 ASUS RT-AX88U and wouldn't you know it connected and fired right up. The setup isn't bad but it can be very interesting if you assign the DDNS and then change your mind or equipment. Please consider purchasing dual compatible pieces.
