• According to all reports, yes, 16 GB is soldered, leaving one slot to out in either a 16 GB or a 32 GB stick (adding 8 GB would be silly).

• A serial number is required in order to determine if this laptop comes with either an 8GB or 16GB RAM module soldered on the motherboard. It has a slot for a removable RAM stick.
