I plan to use this item to connect a PC to wifi, but until I do that the PC has no internet access whatsoever. I assume I'll need to download a driver to a thumb drive using another computer, then use the thumb drive to install the driver onto the PC? null

What I did was use a friend or neighbor's PC / laptop and download the software that's needed for the usb wifi to work. Once its downloaded, plug in the usb with into the computer and install the software. Lastly, plug in the wifi usb in and it should run properly.

So yes your method would work in this situation.

No drivers are needed because it is simply an excellent antenna. I plugged it into my laptop and I was up and running instantly.
