• What I did was use a friend or neighbor's PC / laptop and download the software that's needed for the usb wifi to work. Once its downloaded, plug in the usb with into the computer and install the software. Lastly, plug in the wifi usb in and it should run properly. So yes your method would work in this situation.

• No drivers are needed because it is simply an excellent antenna. I plugged it into my laptop and I was up and running instantly.
