“my computer is windows 7. my wifi shut off out of nowhere and it says it needs the Ethernet cable. could i use this item WITHOUT having to go on the internet to download or install anything??”

Do you know if you have an internet signal going to your router? Have you refreshed the driver for your computer’s wireless radio? This is not a magic device. It replaces your computers existing radio or provides wireless access if your computer has no existing wireless radio. Could be a Win 7 settings problem or modem settings IF you are sure the internet signal is present from your ISP
