• Yes, It works. You do not need to use an app from Microsoft store. More over, the software included worked perfect. You do not need to use any other application. It work perfect, is a good product to make cd or Dvd. I am Pleased with it.

• S mode was a Microsoft OS barebone for budget system--must ensure that is what your referring too. Check your system to determine compatability This Unit works with Vista and XP so assume should work with your system
