Not sure you are looking at the right phone for what you apparently want to do. This is an expansion phone for the A T & T base unit. It plugs directly into an AC receptacle and pairs up wirelessly with the base. No modem is involved. The base unit is connected to a telephone land line. Hope that answers your question. LPP
