How does the belt go on null

This is really not difficult. Check out You Tube.

Pretty easily. Like other belt drive turntables, the belt comes preinstalled around the record platter, you just have to place it over the motor pulley after placing the platter on the spindle. A good illustration of this is provided in the User Manual.
