• No. It is not necessary to have an amp to use this turntable. You can even plug straight into your speakers if you want

• You will either need an amplifier with passive speakers attached to the amplifier, powered speakers - which the turntable can connect directly to, a Bluetooth speaker, or a Bluetooth headphone.
