The AMS (Automatic Material System) is the piece that is on top of the printer housing. It is a convenient way for printing using multiple colors. To clarify specifically it isn't printing more than one color at the same time, it has to switch between them. Normally without a device like this you could do the same thing but you would have to setup the prints to pause , manually change out the filament, and then continue the print every time you did this. The AMS helps automate this entire process for you and can hold up to 4 at a time. The Bambu P1S should allow for 2 AMS systems to be connected if you would like to use that many. Allowing up to 8 filaments to be used easily on the same print.
