Everything starts out white because it’s the cheapest to manufacture. And, it helps them mitigate their losses if it doesn’t sell as much. I did read an article on Mac Rumors that they were releasing new colors. https://www.macrumors.com/2019/10/26/airpods-pro-black-midnight-green-rumor/
