Yes! They block the surrounding noise.

No they lay on top of your ears. The Studio3 cover the ear. These do reduce but do not block out background noise.

They are in-ear headset and they do a good job of blocking out noise. I workout at Lifetime and they pump somewhat loud music across the entire gym but these headphones blocks out most of it. Check out my recent review where I tried several headphones and landed on this one.
