It is a port replicator. Will the Belkin employee please look up the definition of both and update their reply? Docking stations are typically a stationary unit that a laptop, or other mobile device, "docks" with, or goes inside of. They usually have internal expansion for more drives, expansion cards, video cards, etc., and often have a cover that sits above the laptop so you can keep a monitor on top of the docking station for use when the laptop is docked. Most docking stations use proprietary ports with pins that connect to the bottom of the laptop or device. This item is a port replicator. Port replicators perform similar functions to docking stations, but are much more limited in features, and often plug in to a standard (in this case USB-C) port. My original question remains unanswered. Why is Belkin calling this port replicator a docking station? The attached image is an actual docking station. You can clearly see the pins on it that connect to the bottom of the laptop when docked. That is a very basic docking station, which is basically 1 step up from a port replicator. Many docking stations have much more advanced features, and are many times the size of the one in the picture.
