“Can the timer be set one-time then that is the same time coffee will be brewed each and every day (once the power or brew button is depressed). Fromthe description it appears that if one wants to use the timer that it must be set each time a pot is brewed”

The time will stay set to the time you choose but you will need to press the brew later button every day to set it for the next day.
