Do these cups separate? null

If you are referring to the filter basket, there is a little notch that you need to line up. The "exit" slot is facing you when the handle is towards you. It's a nice thing to have compared to some that work with compression which makes it very difficult to change. Once you figure this out - it's easy every time.
