Hello, if you are using a video game console (XBOX X or PS5) then the HDMI cable will work fine. Game console resolution and aspect ratio capabilities are limited on those devices. If using a PC you would be able to take full advantage of your computers video card by using a display port. Moreover, if your monitor is an ULTRA WIDE and your video card supports FreeSync you will be able to take advantage of the higher Hz refresh rate and the custom aspect ratio. I recommend the native display port when using a Gaming PC unless your connecting it to a HD or 4k TV then use the HDMI.
