• No it doesn't have ant settings for the differen piles.

• No, it does not. I own 2 vacuum cleaners, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. This cleaner is ok, but I much prefer my Shark Navigator. This vacuum does pick up on low pile carpet but feels cheap. I have shag rugs upstairs and it does not do well on them at all.
