• You really should go over with a mild acid like a vinegar mixture after cleaning otherwise the soap residue will cause your carpet to resoil much faster than normal.

• Never put anything other than water or the recommended cleaning solution into a machine. This is a bad idea. I did that with a vacuum cleaner and it broke it. It will void any warranty as well.
