• You have to add hot water to the shampooer, but it stays hot for a long while.

• According to the description of this product - "Your carpets will look clean and fresh thanks to HeatWave Technology, which keeps water inside the deep cleaner at the right temperature for optimal soil removal." I would say that it *does* heat the water - although I don't have of these devices to answer for sure.
