• No, the audio controls work just fine with just the main USB plugged in. The pass-though cable is only needed if you want to plug something into the audio port on the keyboard itself.

• No; the aux cord and extra USB cord are provided so that you can connect headphones and any USB device directly to your keyboard (there are ports on the left side). Therefore, you don't need to plug in the aux cord to your PC to use the volume controls.

• No. Not necessarily as you can still control volume on your PC using that media keys/volume controls if your keyboard is already connected to your PC via its USB connection.
