Yes, you can use the mounts if you want or you can just place them in the rooms wherever you want them to sit. I have mine in five rooms and have not used the mounts.

Should you wish to place your Blink Indoor cameras anywhere other than a flat surface we do ship each camera with a mount and mounting hardware screws, noting the use of the included screws would create two holes in the surface.
