Thank you for your interest in Blueair! The Blue Pure 211i Max has a washable pre-filter that captures larger particles such as dust and pet hair, extending the life of your main filter. We recommend vacuuming and machine washing it as needed.

The main filter includes a smart replacement indicator that lights up red when it’s time to change. Our RealTrack algorithm also calculates filter life based on usage, fan speed, and air quality. For 24/7 use, we suggest replacing the filter every 6-9 months.

I vacuum the outside cover when I think of it, and I believe the filter is supposed to be replaced every 6 months, depending on use.
