I cannot answer the suction power portion but can say that it picks everything up. If you don’t want it to mop, simply do not put any water in it and don’t attach the cloth, this will make sure it inly vacuums. When you first get the unit, you will run it and let it map your home. Then from that map you can program it to run at specific intervals, days and times, or simply run it from the app when you want it to vacuum. It doesn’t take a great deal of time but this depends on the size of your room(s). Yes, it traverses my rugs just fine. It may not do so well with shag carpeting but should be fine with regular carpet. Hope this helps!
