There is a button for tuning on the lights and the fan, you just push the light button once for its bright setting and push it again for the night light setting and push it one more time to turn off the lights. The fan button works the same way you push it to turn on the fan and push again to change the speed of the fan and push it again to turn off the fan.

Per the Use and Care Manual for Model:HMV8053U: Touch keys: You can activate a function by briefly touching the corresponding touch key. Each time you touch a key a short beep will sound. A long beep will tell you that you have made an invalid input. To activate the Vent (high/low): Turn kitchen ventilation feature on/off. Light: Turn surface light on/off.
