• I removed the box and (hard-wired) connected it to the old one. I made sure to seal the wires well.

• Hi Tim17, thank you for your question regarding the Bosch Powercord with Junction Box, Model:SMZPCJB1UC. The Bosch Junction Box is necessary for installation for our Dishwashers as it plugs into the back of the unit.
