No, they are not wireless, they are wired. The cables are only 6' long, you will need an extension cable if you need them farther apart. Bose will send you an extension for the left speaker at no cost, and Best Buy sells the extension that goes from your device to the speakers for around $14.

The Companion 2 Series III speakers are not wireless speakers, and are designed to connect to a computer via an AUX cable to a computer. If you are after a wireless speaker for a back porch, we would recommend looking at a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth solution. Our Wi-Fi solutions would include our SoundTouch and Smart-Speaker lines, such as the SoundTouch 10, SoundTouch SA-5 Amplifier, or Home Speaker 500. If you are after a Bluetooth speaker, this is primarily used by our SoundLink line of speakers, such as the SoundLink Revolve or SoundLink Micro. In your situation, if you don't mind using an amp/receiver, I would be recommending that you look at the 151SE or 251 speakers hooked up to an amplifier or receiver that supports these. These speakers are designed for outdoor use, which is well suited to the environment you would like to use these in, and when connected to a something like our SoundTouch SA-5 Amplifier, will allow you to play to the speakers wirelessly through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Our last recommendation is to visit a Bose store and listen to these speakers for yourself if possible to ensure that you are happy with the way these sound and operate before making a decision!
