• They greatly amplify the sound. My Mac Book Air sounds low and tinny, you can barely hear some vids on the net. These make it sound like a decent home stereo.

• No there's not. It's only going to sound as good as the audio your laptop can produce. It will definitely sound way better then your stock laptop speakers.
