Are these good speakers for use with an ipad? Need to have greater volume for classroom presentation.

Most definitely. I'd considered using a pair of these for my bedroom TV speakers for a while until I discovered the Solo. They provide plenty of volume, wide coverage and stereo sound.

I plug my iPhone and iPad mini into them all the time. If you're content with lower-mid volume music, then these are great speaker.

Excellent! Enough volume for a normal, quiet classroom easily. If a large room or lecture hall like college, you'll need more volume.

I use these at my job in a mechanic shop with loud noises going constantly and these speakers are plenty loud enough. I think they would be great for up to a mid sized college classroom. One of the big classrooms I think they might have trouble making it to the back.
