• The output of your sound will depend on audio drivers your motherboard uses and the Bose speakers, not the built in speaker so it should be louder. Windows 7 should be fine.

• The speakers have their own power supply.. I have windows 10.. I would think any version of windows would be fine.

• Pretty much hooking up any external speakers will be better than laptop speakers. To answer your second question speakers aren't dependent on an operating system so you will be fine.
