They connect through Bluetooth and can work with or without Wi-Fi. I have the same pair as you do so I don’t line the difference between 1st & 2nd generation

These also use the USB-C connection for quicker charging of the 8-hour battery inside. They are different from the first generation Alto and Rondo, and the second generation Tenor and Soprano style of frames as this style is for Sports usage.
