Refurbished means the product was returned, inspected, tested, and restored to full working condition. It may show minor cosmetic signs, but it works like new.

As far as Bose-certified refurbished products go, the product undergoes thorough internal and external cleaning, and is fitted where needed with Bose replacement parts (e.g. new eartips).
