I read that for the bluetooth to work on these, you need to have service. I don't know if the person was talking about the assistance services (which would make sense) or for music. I want to make sure I can listen to music when I don't have service. null

That's not true, you can use Bluetooth on these headphones without service. I use it on the airplane all the time. The assistant does need service though.

In order for the headphones to work you will need a compatible bluetooth device.

I think by this they just mean like a bluetooth service. I listen to mine in airplane mode with Bluetooth active and have no issues connecting them. In order to download the app you will need either wifi or a data plan that allows you to download the app.
