Protein leather” is an umbrella marketing and technical term for next-generation vegan leathers that use real proteins (instead of just plastic) to mimic the collagen structure of animal leather, offering better breathability, biodegradability, and a more natural feel than traditional PU/PVC vegan leather. It is not the same as conventional faux leather (which is usually 100% petroleum-based plastic) and is considered more sustainable, though performance and cost are still catching up to genuine leather in many applications.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It’s yet another way to fool people into thinking something is leather, when it’s synthetic. In this case it’s synthetic leather using protein powder and glue. It does feel and look nice, but is not leather.
