• They are somewhat charged, but as with all the electronics I buy, I charge them fully before using.

• A good hour to fully charge. Out of package it's charged a little bit. You can listen to it while it charges.

• The system needs to be charged because you don't know how long it has been sitting on a shelf, so the battery could be drained. Once I plugged the adapter in & paired my system with both my iPhone & iPod, I immediately used it while the battery was charging.

• Please allow three hours for a full charge when first unpacking. You can use the speaker while charging. Playing the speaker while charging may increase charge time.
