If the question is only would the bluetooth connect if you did that, I believe the answer would be "most likely". However, there are issues about electrical code / fire hazards, ect., so Bose is playing it safe with their installation instructions.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have mine hidden behind my couch and they work with no issues. Not sure if behind a wall or ceiling. Instructions show line of site. If they werent mounted to my wall I would of tested it for you.
