My application for a rv where the old tv went out and replaced with a flat screen tv. This required adding speaker cloth to fill the hole. The new tv volume was not acceptable. I bought this speaker unit to increase volume and this one had a bass control. It also fit nicely in the unused cavity. The volume meets my requirement and the bass meets my expectations. I do not have room for a separate bass speaker. My tv is a Samsung. It took awhile to figure out how to sync the two together. I now need to sync it to my direct tv remote. It has a nice sound. I used the cable furnished optic cable
