• Yes, they can and even better- both buds have the physical button so you can pause/play from either bud. If you use them like this you kind of give up being able to control the volume level using the buds and one bud increases the volume while the other bud decreases the volume, but that’s kind of a minor annoyance IMO.

• Yes. Not sure why you’d want to do that. But there is no need for that because you can hear things around you with both in.
