No you can not pull the shot and steam at the same time. However, the shot pulls very quickly and while the shot is being pulled these allows time to gather your milk and flavorings. We have this machine and the more expensive breville machine but I like this one better. The frothing is amazing once you get the hang of it especially almond milk. Love this machine and would buy again 1000 times over. We are using this in a retail setting and love it.
