A:Answer Yes this camera can be used for Astrophotography. You would need to make sure the camera is set to manual mode and auto focus and image stabilization are turned off. You would also need to set exposure, ISO, aperture etc. manually as well. A T-mount would be needed to connect to a telescope and this would be done without the lens at what is called Prime focus. So, essentially, the telescope would be the lens. A good sturdy tripod is essential as well. A remote shutter mechanism would be a good idea as well to avoid shaking the camera during long exposures. I could go on and on here. It's a big learning curve for astrophotography with this camera but I have seen pictures of deep sky objects taken by this camera and they are really terrific.
