Q: How far is zoom on this camera
A: Not far, its right around on the front of the camera :-) as a technical question, the lens offered in this bundle is an 18-55mm zoom lens. if "how far" is thinking of a telephoto lens that makes distant object look closer, this lens doesn't do that. A 55mm lens is a good match for the human eye, the image is most like what you see. 18mm is "wide angle" a wider field of view than a human's eye which is an image distortion also called a fish eye lens. The zoom ratio is 55mm/18mm or 3:1, which is about as much as can be useful because one side effect of a zoom lengthening a lens is that it also reduces its light gathering ability, so the lens also gathers 3x as much light at 18mm as it does at 55mm which means that for things like portraits and people in low light conditions, a plain 55mm lens w/o a zoom may produce a better image.

I am in love with this camera. I know my way around a camera, I took photography in and out of HS but that was back when there was still real film.lol I’ve had a few little digital cameras over the years good for concerts and back yard parties… as a mom I take a zillion pics of my kids and all their events, sports, communions etc and for the most part just use my phone… when my girls came up on graduation and confirmation I wanted really nice photos.. my phone also can’t keep up with all the pics I take during sports games… so I did some research, didn’t want to mortage the house for a camera and settled on this one and I’m 1000% satisfied… for what I need it for its perfect! And I’m so happy! I bought a few filters and the 300 zoom lens… my only regret is not buying the bundle offered with this camera… because I ended up spending a bit more to buy the second lens anyways… but I wanted more zoom for my boys football and hockey games! This camera has all the bells and whistles, portrait mode, sports mode… I like the stabilizer and the option to do Auto focus or manual focus..the flash is great and the pictures really come out clear and crisp! I wanted a good camera for low light since we’re indoors for events just as much as we are outdoors. Like I said this camera does not disappoint!! My first “real” digital camera lol couldn’t be more pleased! I added 2 pics of my daughters getting their hair done for confirmation taken with the camera, the salon was very low light and the pictures still came out crisp and clear!

I know absolutely nothing about cameras (ISO, Aperture, etc) however I needed a camera to film my self tapes and my vlogs for my youtube channel "Janel Yarber" because I have been using my phone. The sales associate advised this was a very good camera it was between this and the Canon M50 which is a mirrorless camera. I heard dslr cameras are hard to learn and are for the more experienced, however he told me this particular dslr is easy to learn. I am not going to lie it is taking me some time to get the hang of it and I am still learning everyday (I actually got mad at the camera but it was just me not knowing how to use it) BUT I've noticed the more I figure out what I am doing the better the photos and videos become. I like this camera a lot and can't wait until I'm a pro with using it.
