Camera yes, lense no. You'd need a lense with a 75-300mm minimum to get shots from a decent distance.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think the answer to this question really depends on two things 1) what you're upgrading FROM, and 2) what kind of action you are looking to shoot. If you are looking to get really sharp shots of birds in flight (you mentioned waterfowl,) then 7 FPS may get the trick done. It's not stellar, but it could certainly be worse. There are much more expensive cameras with far worse FPS numbers than that. This is a lot of camera for the money especially seeing as it grants you access to the full world of EF/EF-S lenses that Canon offers!
