  • General
    • Brand: Canon
    • Model Number: 3924C002
    • Product Name: EOS Rebel T8i DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens
    • Color: Black
    • Product Set: w/ EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 lens
    • Camera Model Family: Canon Rebel T8i
    • Digital Camera Type: DSLR Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm)
    • Total Pixels: 25.8 megapixels (Generally, the more pixels, the higher the image resolution and the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: 10x (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): false (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
    • Number of Autofocus Points (Up To): 45
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/4000 to 30 sec, bulb (optical viewfinder and live view shooting); 1/4000 to 1/8 sec. (movie recording) (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: f/32 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: f/4 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Minimum ISO: 100 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. When there is plenty of light, using the lowest ISO setting available will typically result in a higher quality image.)
    • Maximum ISO: 25600 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. In low-light environments, using a higher ISO setting helps to capture a sharp, bright image.)
    • Maximum Expandable ISO: 51200 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. Expandable ISO settings use software to simulate brighter images than the device's native ISO range is capable of capturing.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 10 seconds, 2 seconds, Continuous shooting
    • White Balance Modes: Auto (ambience priority / white priority), Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten light, White fluorescent light, Flash, Custom, Color temperature (K) (Manually adjustable between 2000-10000K) (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 24.1 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Canon EF-S
    • Lens Type: Standard Zoom
    • Minimum Focal Length: 18 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 55 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
    • Lens Series: Canon EF-S (The product group that the lens belongs to, based on similar shared features.)
    • Lens Model Number: 1620C002
  • Flash
    • Integrated Flash: true

Q: I have a T6 and it has 9 points of focus (I think that is the terminology) and I was wondering how many points of focus this camera has (if it still doesn't make sense, I know that the Canon 90D has 45 points of focus)?

A: Much like what you mentioned with the 90D (which I also own,) the T8i has 45 Point Cross Type AF. Should be a pretty big jump up from the 9 point AF that you are currently running. Between that and the Digic 8 Processor, you won't be disappointed!

Q: When will this camera be released?

A: Canon announced that the release of the camera would be pushed back to the end of June.

Q: Is this camera good for action shots? ( i.e sports, wildlife, etc)

A: Yes I think it's a good camera for action

Q: can you use this camera to vlog with???

A: Yes you can. Canon makes a slightly smaller one - I think it’s the SL3 - that might be better, especially if you sit it at the center of a ring lite.

Q: I want to purchase a camera for graduation and family pics. I'm not at all experienced. Do you recommend the T8i or wound the T7 do what I want it for.

A: I’m no expert but the t7 is an amazing starter camera and will absolutely do very well with what you need it for the t8i is great as well just a little newer and a few more bells and whistles. Hope this was helpful

Q: Was this camera supposed to come with a manual?

A: It comes with a tiny getting started guide you can also get here ( https://cam.start.canon/en/C002/manual/html/UG-00_Before_0040.html ) but you're not missing much if you don't have it. There are lots of excellent YouTube videos ranging from a few minutes long to hours that will teach you however much detail you want to learn about the camera https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Canon+T8i+Tutorial

Q: What 16 mm lens fits this camera

A: Any cannon EF or EFS lens will fit the camera. sigma has some options as well the 16mm f1.4 EF-M for example. The camera is EF mount compatible. EF-M / EF / EF-S the M is manual focus, the S is stabilization EF is simply autofocused. with no image stabilization. So just look for any EF mount and your good to go,Cheers
