A:Answer This printer has an auto document feeder (ADF) to feed multiple documents into the scanner, but it will not scan both sides. You need to scan one set of sides, then the other. I was not expecting this when I bought it several months ago as the Canon online specifications do not indicate this lack of functionality. This is a real pain. My older MX722, a much less capable inject scanner/printer, can scan both sides of a page. As far as I can tell, Canon has simply disabled such functionality on the MF642Cdw scanner/printer forcing you to pay extra on another model for this feature, which I would likely have done, had I known of this shortcoming of the MF642Cdw. Boo Canon; epic customer appreciation fail.
