“Trying to set up the printer but during installing the drivers it says i need to check my network connection. As far as I can tell my network connection is fine. If I can't get the printer to work, I need to send it back.”

You should definitely send it back. I’m no printer novice and this is THE WORST printer I’ve ever used.
