The device creates a new signal, it shouldnt rely on other ones so in the mountains it is still brodcasting straight from inside your car, you should be all set!

As long as your phone maintains connection to wherever you're streaming from, or you keep it within range of the phone or device you have your music on; it will work. The only real issue is getting a "clean" station to broadcast on as anything with a decent amount of power will overwhelm the transmitter in this. The devices works as a bluetooth device. You connect your phone/tablet/music device to this using a bluetooth connection. It will show up as CAD (something) as available to be paired with. Once you pair it with your device, you have to go through the radio channels to find a clear station. Once you find one, change the station numbers on this device to match it (it is limited to even numbers so it'll do 99.8 but it doesn't do 99.9.) Once your radio and your device are set up on the same channel, just play your music or stream it. One minor issue is you have to manipulate the phone/tablet/music device to change toons and start/stop music. Another feature is that it turns off the music automatically on your phone/tablet/ and most music devices when the car is turned off and the bluetooth connection is interrupted.
