- Answer You can hold up a second smartphone and place the camera lens up to the eyepiece to take photos of the moon, bright planets, and terrestrial objects. In addition, a Smartphone Adapter is available separately that will attach to the eyepiece so a phone's camera lens can be perfectly aligned to compose pictures.

QuestionDoes this telescope hold up in the rain, or does it rust? Does it hold it's weight or get knocked over easily in the wind?

- Answer I usually keep this telescope covered and in my garage but I did leave it out in the backyard one night and there was heavy dee and light rain overnight but ive seen no sign of rust and the rri pod system is very sturdy, the scope carries some weight and my son has a rambuctious husky that runs into everything, she couldnt topple the telescope though!

QuestionHello - are the mirrors and components sealed at the factory minimizing or even eliminating the need to collimate, or is collimation necessary to keep the components aligned?

- Answer The StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ's optical system (mirrors) are collimated (not sealed) at the factory prior to shipping. However, due to the nature of Newtonian reflective optics, they may become misaligned due to vibrations, during transport, and through normal usage.

- Answer No, because the StarSense Explorer 114mm is a Newtonian reflector telescope, an image erect diagonal will not work. Position your body, so that you are standing at the front of the telescope tube while your back is facing towards your terrestrial target. Tilt your head as you peer into the eyepiece, and the subject will be seen in its correct image orientation.

- Answer Yes, faint galaxies are visible through the StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ telescope. However, they are difficult to see from the city due to light pollution. Galaxies such as Andromeda, the Whirlpool, M81 & M82, will reveal themselves nicely from a dark sky site away from city lights.
