• Hello, I'm not sure about the Dolby vision but I do know it can play videos from an external drive (i..e. usb external drive). I have over 400 movies on a 1 TB hard drive that's connected to my network router using VLC Android App to play the movies. I'm also sure you could attach a USB type C Hub to the actual Chromecast device and plug in your external hard drive into one of the expansion ports in the HUB and use a media app like VCL to play the media.
